Carrboro has always been a little different. In Carrboro, Southern hospitality means everyone is welcome, and the folks here are curious about the world, engaged in their community, and lovers of the arts. That’s why our town is a great place for a film festival.
Entering its 19th year, Carrboro Film Fest has an established history as a dynamic event that brings filmmakers and audiences together for a heartfelt celebration of independent cinema.
Building on more than a decade of success, the festival began a new chapter in 2019. In recent years, the South has produced numerous independent films that challenge and expand our understanding of Southern culture. In an effort to support what we see as a renaissance in Southern cinema, Carrboro Film Fest will embrace its identity as a Southern institution and present exclusively Southern films in a non-competitive setting.
